From this information, it can be assumed that Archibald enlisted again in WW2.

We do know, from the AIF Project, that Archibald enlisted on 6 March 1916, his service number was 3316 and was a Private with the 29th Battalion, 7th Reinforcements. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A35 Berrima on 4 July 1916, and he returned to Australia on 22 August 1919. At some point he was promoted to Lance Corporal and joined the 32nd Battalion.

News of his wounding was reported in the local press where his parents resided.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Tangey, of Bowenvale, received word on Friday last, through the Defence Department, that their son, Private A. J. Tangey, had been admitted to the Edmonton Military Hospital, London, on 6th October, suffering from gunshot wounds. The wire did not state the nature of the wounds, but their many friends of Bowenvale hope and trust that they are of a mild nature.
Maryborough and Dunolly Advertiser, 29 October 1917, p.3.
