L. McDonald, West Footscray
Over 30 men with the name "L. McDonald" enlisted and served overseas in World War One. None of those have a traceable link to the Werribee district.

The name on the Werribee Shire Oak Board is: "McDONALD, L"

The name "McDonald, L from West Footscray" first appeared in the Roll of Honor, Werribee Shire Banner, 13 February 1919, p.3.

It is suspected that this man may have served within Australia, or he applied to enlist, but was rejected. People under this category do not have a searchable record, but they were entitled to have their name recorded on the Werribee Shire Oak Board.

The closest candidate that can be found was No. 3146, Private L. McDonald from Deepdene. He may also have been a relative of No.205, Private Hugh McDonald, from Footscray and Deepdene.
