H. Kranz, Metro. Farm
There is only one soldier by the name of Kranz who is listed in the National Archives of Australia and the AIF Project. That was Ernest Kranz (No.56099) and he enlisted in South Australia on 23 February 1918. He returned to Australia on 5 September 1919.
Whilst the name Kranz appears in the Werribee Shire Banner's Roll of Honor and on the RSL Honor Board, no soldier could be found with the surname of who had any link to Werribee.
"B. Kranz from the Metro Farm" first appeared in the Roll of Honor, Werribee Shire Banner, 24 February 1916, p.1.
On 13 February 1919, the name changed to H. Kranz.
Werribee Shire Banner, 13 February 1919, p.3.
H. Kranz is on the RSL Werribee Honor Board, but P. Kranz is listed on the Church of England Honor Board.
The Australian Electoral Rolls from 1916-1919 have a Herbert Kranz listed as a labourer at the Metropolitan Farm. But, the Census Reports have him working at the Metropolitan Farm as a labourer at the time of the war.
