Biographical Text
John Devine and his wife Mary Ann farmed at Little River. John held the seat for Little River for Werribee Shire for twenty-six years, and was Shire President from 1882-1883.
John only retired from Council when he moved to Clifton Hill because of increasing bouts of asthma. He was known as very conscientious, well-doing man, and if his health had been better he may have stood for Parliament.
