Sidney John Birch
At the time of enlistment, the electoral roll records Sidney Birch as living in Duncans Road, Werribee and employed as a farmer.
War Service
Despite enlisting, Sidney never saw war service.
Instead, following a very short period at a training depot in Seymour, he was hositalised following two bouts of meningitis. Sidney spent time being treated and recovering at Ascot Vale and Mont Park.
Sidney was discharged as medically unfit, not due to misconduct on 21 March 1916 and was awarded a pension of £52 per annum.
